Just like a SPRING day

the sun was shining. the birdies were singin. the trees have buds on them. the tulips and daffodils are coming up. so why not go outside and play? I thought it was a brilliant idea and decided I would take Izzy and Baxie with me to get some fresh air. I wanted to clean out the flower beds and pick up some sticks in the yard.
I thought for sure my little Izzy would like helping me pick up sticks and leaves. I never learn. The whole thing went wrong. First, it didn't feel like a spring day, it was COLD. 35 degrees and windy to be exact. I went and got my tools to clean up, had just started - then Baxie disappeared. I asked Izzy to call for Baxie. So she did. Baxie was way back in the neighbors yard, so Isabella went over there running after him. Then he decided he wanted to make a game out of her chasing him, so he ran to the other neighbors house. And she followed. Isabella wouldn't leave the neighbors yard until Baxie came with. So I had to beg him to come home by promising a TREAT. He gave in.
I got both of them home and then Izzy put 1 stick in the cart and complained it was ICKY. Jeezzz..... is all I can mutter under my breath. What a girlie girl. Then she wanted her gloves. So I went inside and got her gloves. I started back with cleaning the flower bed (after 3 attempts now) and then she wanted to go on the swing. By this time, I have only picked up about 15 sticks, got ZERO flower beds cleaned out and half an hour has gone by.
At that point, I realize A) it's really too cold outside to be cleaning up anything and B) I'm not going to get anything done with these 2 tricksters who ONLY want to PLAY cat and mouse.
I SMILE and walk over to the swing and listen to the LAUGHTER of my little Isabella. Baxie just sat by the tree and watched us.......I guess those sticks will have to wait until another day.

Time ......when your havin FUN

You know the saying! This week my maternity leave ends and I head back to work on Monday, March 21st. I have enjoyed spending time with my two girls - watching them laugh and get to know one another day by day. I have enjoyed having yummy homemade dinners with Bob in the evenings once the girls were down (and once we got a working oven). I have enjoyed the one on one time that I was granted to spend with baby Giselle. I have enjoyed watching the different birdies in the back yard along with the squirrels and rabbits. Spring is here!!
Isabella Marie is feeling much better - she has successfully had NO MORE runny pants issues since the juice was completely cut out of her diet. Her nose does not constantly run since she started the allergy syrup and does the steaming treatments. Giselle's toe healed and I am happy to say she SLEPT 8 hours last night - from 8 p.m. to 4:15 a.m.!! Both my girls are happy and healthy - and at the end of the day, that is all a mom can ask for. Love to all of YOU!! We miss you all!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

I've Got Sunshine....

I've got sunshine
On a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside,
I've got the month of May.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

I've got so much honey
The bees envy me.
I've got a sweeter songThan the birds in the trees.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

Ooooh, Hoooo.

Hey, hey, hey.
Hey, hey, hey.

I don't need no money,
Fortune or fame.
I've got all the riches, baby,
One man can claim.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

Seriously Baxie? Or should I say BAXTER ALLEN!

It wouldn't be the same if I went on and on about Isabella and Giselle and didn't tell you what Baxie was up to! He never ceases to amaze me. Just check out the picture for example...Don't you find it ODD that he is riding in the car with me and sitting in Isabella's car seat? Why YES....YES you do. For those of you that know Baxie and have had the priviledge of cruising with him...you know...that he likes to SIT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the car console. Annoying to say the least. But we always let him ride there....out of LOVE.

So WHY is he changing his ways? I'm not quite sure....but I think he is trying to tell me something...I am just not sure what. First, I felt like I was driving "Miss Daisy" when I drove Bob's car and he rode all the way in the BACK SEAT. Who is this dog? Now, when he is in my car, he sits in Isabella's car seat? And yeah, again, those of you that know Baxie are probably asking..."How does he FIT in her car seat with his big butt?" Thankfully, Bob didn't buy the "diet" dog food for him but he is on a diet to slim down. A healthy doggy equals a healthy heart which equals a lifetime of LOVE!

A beautiful day in the neighborhood....

Day two using the nebulizer and Isabella is doing quite well. She wears a mask during each treatment and we either read a book together or she names off all of the grocery goodies that are in her basket. She is still coughing alot and her nose is running like crazy, however she is still jolly and is eating like a horse!
Today we had parent teacher conferences at Isabella's school and they told us she is doing quite well. They said she loves to count in spanish, count, colors well, takes good naps, and plays well with others. She is also doing well with her potty training. Tomorrow, I'm sending her to school in underwear for the first time instead of pull-ups. Now that we have cut out the juice entirely and she is not having as many blow-outs, I think it's safe to wear just underwear. Nobody wants to have the hershey squirts running down their leg 4 times a day!!

For the past month, Isabella likes to strip all of her clothes off, put her winter boots, hat and gloves on and then walks around the house. Maybe she thinks she is playing dress up...or should I say....dress down. Today, before I captured this video she had wanted to go outside like that. So I told her if she wanted to go outside, she had to get decent and put some clothes on. Thank goodness, she listens and put her clothes on to go outside!

Giselle's hair tourniquet on her third toe is healing quite nicely. Maybe I won't take her to the doctor this week to get it checked out. We shall see. I just don't want to regret it later in life if her toe looks all funky. A girl with funky toes is not good!

Healthy = Happy

Today, for the first time in months I actually feel good. Don't get me wrong, I have not been feeling bad, however I have been feeling uneasy about what is going on with my little Izzy's health. When your family is not feeling well, you just don't feel right. You worry and then worry some more. Just like if your fighting with someone you care about. You worry, and then you worry some more until things are right again. It weighs on your mind heavily.
I finally switched Isabella's pediatrician and Bob and I paid a visit to the new doctor today. I tried to give the other pediatrician several chances, but couldn't take it anymore. He was stressing me out and a doctor should not do that. I felt like the new doctor listened to us instead of nodding his head and recommending some crazy mickey mouse expedition. I feel like I have found a doctor close to home that will look out for my children's well being. (EXHALE)

We talked to him about Isabella's allergies since birth, her constant runny nose and her diareaa that she has been experiencing non-stop for the past two months. Today, Isabella weighs 28 pounds and 3.2 oz! When he listened to her chest, he noticed some wheezing so they gave her a nebulizer treatment in the office. Afterwards, he listened and her breathing was better.
In a nutshell, he diagnosed her with acute bronchospasm. Makes sense to me with all of the coughing she does on a daily basis. What is this you ask? Well, an acute bronchospasm is an abnormal contraction of the bronchi that causes them to narrow. It is common in asthmatics. This condition leads to wheezing and coughing as the airway is obstructed or narrowed. Frequently, sticky mucous is produced, which further narrows the airways and makes breathing increasingly difficult and labored. What causes it? It is triggered by allergies, which Isabella is allergic to milk and eggs and Bob's side of the family also has a history of asthma.

We were sent home with a nebulizer in which we are to give her 4 total mist treatments to the lungs per day. You put the medicine in a cup and then hold the tube in front of the child's airway and they breathe in steam for about 5 minutes until the medicine is gone. Secondly, he also prescribed zyrtec syrup to be taken daily for her allergies. Lastly, he wants us to pay another visit to the gastroenterologist to follow up regarding her diarrhea. We recently eliminated JUICE completely from her diet as recommended by the doctor and the diarrhea has gone away somewhat. In 2 weeks, we will re-visit the doctor to see if her wheezing has gone away and perhaps can eliminate the nebulizer.

On another note, Giselle had her two month check-up today, received 4 shots and weighed in at 10 lbs 3 oz (She was 7 lbs, 3oz at birth). Izzy weighed 11 pounds and 12 oz (7 lbs, 14 oz at birth) at two months. So Giselle is not quite as big as Izzy was.
And lastly, Giselle has a hair tourniquet around her third toe. (The problem usually arises in babies and small children when hairs and thread are lost loosely inside socks. They can become spontaneously tied round a toe and will tend to tighten with wriggling.)
Her toe looks like someone took a cheese wire, or pair of scissors and tried to cut it in half. It is a very deep cut all the way around her toe. Due to this, the doctor wants me to take Giselle to see a surgeon next week to ensure all nerves and tendons are okay because it is so deep.
Healthy family = Happy at the end of the day. Right now it seems a little overwhelming but I know that we are taking the steps in the right direction to happy, healthy girls. Sometimes I feel like there should be a quick reference book to parenting, but there is not. Just like I wish someone would tell me what to do about working. There is no easy answer to anything in life. It's just trial and error. And as I wrote in a card to my boss last week, "challenges in life only make you stronger at the end of the day......"

Her Hair is So Long and Blonde...

Baby G's hair must be at least 4 inches long and so blonde! Oh where or where did she get all of this hair? Say that 10 times fast.... When I give her a bath and then blow dry her hair so she doesn't get cold, a SPIKE is created and stays for days! No additional hair products needed. Back in the day we had to put so much hairspray in just to get the "spike" to stay!! Aqua net comes to mind...
On Friday, Baby G has her two month doctor's appointment and I can't wait to see what she weighs in at since birth! I wonder how much she has grown. Hmmm...
Meanwhile, big sister is loving up on Baby G - showering her with kisses daily to the forehead AND lips. Izzy wants to see and hold her baby sister everyday and continues to help me take care of her little sister. So cute to see a 2 1/2 year old show LOVE and AFFECTION for a baby.....priceless!

FIRST DAY of School Photos

I am surrounded by empty nesters.  For now, I am still celebrating the firsts.  There are always firsts in life...right? I have never been ...
